Liz Hawes is an artist and jeweler living in Leelanau County, Michigan near Traverse City. Her business, Turtleback Studios was named in honor of the prized Petoskey stone that is found in Northern Michigan. Liz's jewelry most often includes natural elements such as beach stone, Petoskey stone, or exotic stone and freshwater pearl. Because she is able to do the lapidary work as well as the jewelry work, she is better able to control the creative process for each piece from beginning to end. This approach in combination with her natural creative talents results in unique stone jewelry that celebrates nature's beauty.
